It’s Coach Bre! I had a wonderful time getting to know the grade 4s at Maple Ridge and teaching them some rugby last week. They all caught onto the sport fairly quickly. It was wonderful to see their skills develop over the 4 days. They were the 1^st group of grade 4s to get to a flag rugby game by Friday! The 2025 spring season starts in the beginning of May and concludes the last weekend of June. There are many clubs around the city that you can join. I have attached a map of the area the clubs are located.

Thank you to those families who brought back their TELUS Spark field trips forms today. Please have those returned by Thursday, October 10th. We are heading out on Tuesday, October 15th - which is the day after Thanksgiving Monday.

Ask your child what they learned about idioms today!!! Can you come up with any idioms to share with the class tomorrow?

In math we are working on rounding numbers - both big and small numbers.

We also came up with wonders related to our pop bottle composters. Ask your child what they are curious about as we create our own compost. 

 We had an amazing time learning about the game of rugby last week. Our classes were even able to play an organized game on the last day. Wonderful work Dragons and Wolves!!

Please check your child's backpack for the TELUS Spark field study on Tuesday, October 15th. Please read these forms over, sign, and have your child return them back to school.

The Grade 4 students engaged in their first rugby lesson today with Ms. Breanne (former employee at TOPP Kids). Ask your child which part of their first lesson was their favourite AND which part of the lesson was challenging to them.    

During Tuesday's EYE Opener - sketching - the students enjoyed the naturalization area while creating a birds eye view map. This is another opportunity for the students to showcase their mapping skills (legend/key, compass rose, labelling). This learning task connects their mapping skills to a real life space.
