Room 13/14 are practicing various strategies for 2 by 1 digit and 3 by 1 digit multiplication questions.

We are reviewing how to expand our sentences by adding adjective and adverb phrases. This work will hopefully help with the writing portion of the upcoming Science Fair projects. Students are working on developing their understanding of magnets as they will be expected to incorporate these concepts into their design thinking challenge.

Students are also thinking about which group of immigrants they are interested in doing a mini research project on during Social Studies.

 Happy Easter to all families.

A few reminders for this upcoming week:

Mrs. Giffen's class is heading to Heritage Park tomorrow!!!

Mrs. Pittman's class is heading to Heritage Park on Thursday.

Both classes are having the 3rd Photography Residency this week. Please review the note from the photographer to prepare for the session.

Next week (April 22–24) will be TOY PHOTOGRAPHY WEEK! The students will be combining the photography skills they've been learning with imaginative storytelling – and I’m so excited to see what they create!

To help make this activity a success, it works best if students come prepared with a few ideas in mind. Here's how you can help:

  • Please encourage your students to bring in a few toys from home (as long as they’re allowed to bring them, of course) that they could use to tell a story.
  • Have them start thinking about what story they’d like to tell with their toys.
  • Ask them to consider what props or extra items might help bring their story to life.

For Tuesday Scientific Sketching we went outside to sketch and dissect a lily flower. We reviewed the parts of a plant and the purpose of each part.  We reviewed a method of dissection and used magnifying glasses to dig a little deeper. Check out our work. We will be heading outside more in the coming months to explore the environment that surrounds us. Please ensure your child is prepared for all weather conditions.

Just a heads up that RTA Welcome to NEW families Scavenger Hunt is on Friday, May 2 at 1:45 - 2:45 PM? (it's a great opportunity for students to check out the building!).

We asked our Grade 4 students these questions this morning about the upcoming transition to Grade 5. We would like to support the students as best as we can in the next 3 months. If you would like to ask your child how they answered the questions please do.

RT Transition Question

1.What do you already know about RT or the school you are attending in Grade 5?

2.What do you wonder about Grade 5? What questions do you have about Grade 5?

3.What are you most excited about? What are you most looking forward to next year?

4.What are you worried or nervous about for next year?

5. What can we (Mrs. Giffen/Mrs. Pittman) do to help you with this transition?

The Dragons have had the opportunity to work alongside the Grade 2 students in supporting their beginning understanding of the Chromebook. The Grade 4 students have showed students how to log on, access Google Docs and use the Speech-Text feature on the computer. The Wolves will continue this work later on this week.

We also had our last presentation by the two university students working through the Science FUNdamental program. Our program focused on buoyancy and density.

Students will be coming home today with a Heritage Park Field Trip form. Please sign and have your child bring this back as soon as possible.
