Only a few days left until the Winter Break. The weather is warm and our field and concrete areas are very icy. We are encouraging students to play alternate games that may not include running on the field and concourse. 

Our Winter Solstice performance is Thursday, December 19th at 9:00am. Please join us for a gym performance and then a Gallery Walk in our class. We have been working on several pieces of art over the last couple of weeks. 

Next week is a special week...each day (except Thursday) is a themed day. This is optional for students.

A few photo ops from our MAD Scientist presentation.

 An amazing day at The Confluence (Fort Calgary). Thank you to all our parent volunteers for joining us. The students were presented with several learning opportunities throughout the day including a museum question scavenger hunt, a suitcase investigation, archeology dig, and a walking tour of the grounds. This field study was a wonderful introduction to our next unit of study in Social Studies. 

MAD Scientist Presentation

 Grade 4 Parents/Guardians,

The Grade 4 students of Maple Ridge School will be participating in an in-school MAD Scientist presentation on Monday, December 9th. This presentation will focus on the concepts connected to one of our current units of study in Science: Earth Systems - understandings of the living world, Earth, and space by investigating natural systems and their interactions.

This presentation is titled Sun and Stars.

Students will be investigating the sun and distant stars and galaxies. They will also explore the stellar life cycle and see real star dust created right before their eyes! Students will take home a Mad Science Cosmic Disc, a pocket night sky map with stickers.
