Students learned this morning about how the nose of an animal supports them in adapting to their environment. Ask your child which animal they choose to read about and how they use their nose to support living.

Today we had 2 student presenters join us for a presentation on Germs and Bacteria.
Here are a few FUN facts that students learned:
-we observed 2 different types of germs that one of our presenters grew in the lab prior to coming to share
-germs come in a variety of colours
-germs need special tools like microscopes that zoom into them
-antibiotics, antivirals and vaccines to help with sickness
-differences between bacteria and viruses
-antibiotic resistance
-germs are EVERYWHERE
-good bugs (bacteria) that protect us from bad bugs
-our body has a protective system called the IMMUNE SYSTEM too help us fight off bacteria
-there are many ways in which germs are transferred (shaking hands, not covering your mouth, not washing your hands)
-green paint experiment to show how important it is to was hands
On March 15 from 9:00-3:00pm at the UofC for a hands-on day for students to explore and experiment.

Happy Monday! We have our lacrosse residency this week for both classes. We are also lucky to have our 2 University students coming in on Wednesday to share their knowledge of germs and bacteria. This program is called Science FUNdamentals and if you don't recall, we have our first session with these students prior to the winter break. There is no fee for this presentation.
We were working with the 'oi' and'oy' letter sound combinations during our literacy warm-up this morning.
In math, we are working on sorting angles into right, acute and obtuse. This will be important to understand as we hope to start a Math/Art project in the coming weeks.
